Emily Factor, Lizzie Parker and Puridee were three eco-friendly designers at LA fashion week's Green Initiative Humanitarian Show that took place on March 20. The event not only presented new work and innovative design, but also recognized mayor Antonio Villaraigos for his environmentally friendly program the 1 Million Trees Initiative, California Apparel News reports.

Emily Factor (grandaughter of Max Factor) is a green designer I hadn’t seen until this show, and she got me with shape & figure, and the successful use of some very elaborate and colorful fabrics that could easily go awry.

Through community-led efforts, Villaraigos aims to plant one million trees throughout the city.
It's possible that the clothing from these three designers may save a few more trees worldwide. Lizzie Parker uses organic fabrics in all designs, and is partial to bamboo. Emily Factor works with reclaimed fabrics, natural dyes and cloth, and refuses to incorporate animal products into fashions. Finally, Puridee creates gowns and wedding dresses with natural materials, proving that elegance can come from nature.
